Get to know Jenni
Hello, I'm Jenni Hughes. My husband and I are proud parents to two young adults and two labradoodles. I am a native Idahoan and have lived in Coeur d'Alene since 2002. Supporting families through pregnancy and the first years of a child's life has been my passion since graduating nursing school. During my career, I have taught childbirth and breastfeeding classes, worked as an RN nurse case manager for high risk pregnancies, administered a maternity wellness program, was a Nurse-Family Partnership home-visiting RN and most recently worked for over 6 years in a local hospital as an RN lactation consultant. It is an honor to work with and support families during this important and intimate time in their lives. These experiences inspired me to start Wildflower Lactation Support, PLLC.

Parents often comment that they are surprised to have challenges with breastfeeding. Many expect it to come easily because it is "natural". In this fast paced world I often find that families aren't given sufficient time and attention to help them succeed with infant feeding. Occasionally latching goes well from the start, but more often I see an adjustment period as mom and baby get to know one another and work together to establish an effective feeding routine. I found this to be true after the births of both my children.
While this adjustment period is common, it can also be stressful. At Wildflower Lactation Support we will listen to your concerns, observe a feeding and/or pump session, and offer practical, evidence-based recommendations. This support, in addition to 7 days of follow-up messaging (through the portal) gives you time to implement any recommendations and report back on how things are working for you. This can be instrumental in building your confidence and ability to successfully feed and nurture your baby.
